Trip to Kilmainham Gaol
Our 3rd and 4th Class pupils enjoyed a memorable and educational trip to Kilmainham Gaol, one of Ireland’s most important historical sites. From the moment we stepped inside the stone corridors, the children were captivated by the stories of Ireland’s past.
We explored the old cells, learned about the lives of the prisoners who were held there, and discovered how the Gaol played a key role during the struggle for Irish independence. The guide was fantastic, helping the children to understand what life was like over 100 years ago and encouraging them to ask thoughtful questions.
A highlight for many pupils was standing in the famous East Wing and imagining the people who had walked those same floors long ago. The children were incredibly respectful and engaged throughout the tour, showing great curiosity and empathy.
This visit has sparked brilliant classroom discussions and inspired the pupils to learn even more about Irish history. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of remembering our past and understanding the journey that shaped our country today.
Well done to all the boys and girls for representing the school so well on this special trip!
